Online RSVP

Post  sarah1989 on March 3rd 2009, 1:15 am

We have created a wedding website (using weddingannouncer.com) and it has the option for online RSVP'ing. The way it works is each invitee (group or single) is given an RSVP code. We would like to use this, but realise that some people on our guest list do not have access to the internet. Should we have those people RSVP by mail or phone? Is anyone else usig online RSVP'ing instead of the traditional written response?

I haven't really decided anything about RSVP's yet. But I think online RSVP'ing sounds fine. It saves money, and trees! Smile As long as most of your invitees can use a computer, I'd say just let the ones who can't do that just call it in. If you wanted them to mail an RSVP if they couldn't go on the computer, it would kindda destroy the point of saving a tree since you'd be forced to send an RSVP card to everyone- but it would be less of a hassle to have to answer phone calls (and probably get in a long conversation).

Well I know most of the invited guests will have access to a computer, but then there are a select few who are older and do not use the computer. Would it be respectful to have 90% of the guests RSVP online, but have the option to mail/call us. I don't think we would be supplying an enveloppe for reply, that is another thing... hmm lol. I don't want to come across as "cheap" but at the same time, we have a very small budget and are trying to save as much as we can.

I don't think it comes off as "being cheap" at all! It's more convient for guests to just hope online, considering they'll want to see your website anyway. And I think if you put to RSVP online or to call, then that should work just fine. I'm not sure if our website allows us to do RSVP's online or not (we have ours through mywedding.com).
